oven baked beef brisket

Ingredients

Beef brisket 3.5 lbs

Ground spices:
  • Star anise
  • Cinnamon
  • Fennel
  • Cumin
  • Dried Ginger 1.5 tsp
  • Smoked paprika 1.5 tsp

1.5 tsp salt
Black pepper

Crushed garlic
Tomato ketchup (generous amount)
Olive oil

Method

Line baking tray with foil
Raise baking rack slightly to avoid beef being immersed in its cooking juices (put some vege underneath)

Mix all ingredients above to form rub

Season the beef (more on the meat side)

Lay beef on a rack inside baking tray, with fatty portion facing upwards

Cover tray tightly with foil

Place in 225 degree F oven for about 5 hours.

Slice on the diagonal.
