meat balls and tomato sauce
Ingredients
For the meatballs
1 lb minced beef
One egg
Salt and pepper to taste
3 tablespoonfuls of tomato puree
3 rashers of bacon
2 teaspoonfuls of corn flour
2 tablespoonsfuls of water
for the sauce:
can of tomatoes
3 cloves of garlic
one large red pepper, or two small
MEATBALLS
Finely chop up the bacon
In a mixing bowl, mix the minced beef, egg, tomato puree, cornflour, bacon, and salt and pepper.
add one of two tablespoonfuls of water to achieve the required consistency
drop the meatballs into a pot of simmering water - ensure water isn't boiling to so that the meatballs cook slowly. when the meatballs float to the surface, they are cooked
TOMATO SAUCE
Fry the garlic and chopped red pepper under gentle heat until the peppers soften
add the can of tomatoes and simmer gently for a few minutes
with a hand blender, blend the whole mixture together
serve with rice or pasta
